Bami Express

Truth be told, I have never been one for Vietnamese cuisine. Something about it just doesn't taste right to me, from flavourless phos to desecrating amounts of cilantro...I'm not one for it. However one day my boss came in for the 5th time that week eating banh mi so obviously, I had to go try it out!

Located on the second floor of Tanjong Pagar Plaza is the most unassuming banh mi shop you would ever come across. It's not quiet at all though as the lines were snaking around the block. I got my order in 10 minutes though! Service is excellent.

Pork belly banh mi

I'd already tried the meatball banh mi previously so this time I decided to try the pork belly filling. I have to say, I definitely enjoy the meatball one more as the pork belly didn't taste as flavourful to me. Ironic since pork belly is one of the most flavourful foods out there! Dressed in sour carrots, radishes and cucumbers, crunchy cilantro and freshly baked baguette, this has to be one of my of my favourite banh mis in Singapore...But I've also been told recently that this isn't traditional banh mi at all. Hey, maybe that's why I enjoy it so much! My search for authentic Vietnamese food that I enjoy continues...
